A comfy, well-made bed
A ‘clean and plush bed’ to dive into was the winner with 60% of guests rating it as the key element to a sound slumber, accompanied by plump, bouncy pillows and duvet. This is vital to attract returning guests, as 89% of respondents said badly made beds and dated linen would make them rethink a second visit.
A squeaky-clean room
Ensuring your hotel linen has been cleaned and stored correctly is key as almost three-quarters of people rated ‘cleanliness in all areas’ as a top factor when looking for a great hotel room experience. This was closely followed by clean, crisp and freshly pressed bed linen.
Quietness
According to our surveyed hotel guests, ‘a quiet and peaceful room’ is a must-have for a perfect slumber. To ensure there is minimal interruptions during the night from internal and external noises of the hotel, an introduction of soft-closing doors and sound-proof walls can make a world of difference.
Snuggly added extras
Missing home comforts like robes and slippers can cause a guest to have a restless night’s sleep, so adding these extras can help create a relaxed, home-from-home experience. A fluffy towelling robe and slippers were popular extras for hotel guests with 34% of people opting for the luxurious additions in their room.
Simple and relaxed service
Even though the use of technology is on the rise, our research shows the majority of guests are not interested in rooms overloaded with the latest gadgets as and only 14% of people prefer a modern, tech-friendly room. Also, fancy services are not essential as just one in 10 felt a turn-down service played an essential part of having a great night’s sleep.
