The CLEAN Driver Academy

Our Driver Academy has been carefully designed to equip new and existing drivers with all the skills they need to ensure safe and aware driving practices in line with guidelines set out by the DVSA and Company H&S policies and training. Successful applicants can gain a LGV C (Class 2) licence and employment as a professional LGV driver delivering laundry to hotels, holiday parks and industrial businesses throughout England and Wales.

The CLEAN Driver Academy intends to provide trainees with an overview of the Company focusing on not only Transport but the Production and Customer Service functions. Each trainee will be inducted for production functions so that they can operate processing equipment whilst learning about the importance of correct sorting practices, how our wash proceses work, basically following the production line through to packing.

Each stage being an important integral part for the on time and in full delivery to our customer base. Whilst learning about product trainees will also gain a perspective on what looks good – quality is fundamental and a key part of good customer service. Quality is key for production, customer service, account management and particularly transport as quality of product and service is an integral part of our drivers role.

Therefore it is key that Driver Trainees understand this. Trainees will also go out with a buddy driver on ‘experience days’. This is so that they understand early on what is expected from the role. It facilitates relationship building with the existing driver team and reinforces what the end role entails.

The first phase for the trainee is to attend a medical (arranged by CLEAN) with the forms then being sent to the DVLA for a provisional entitlement. Trainees will receive a study app so that they can prepare for their theory, haz perception and Mod 2 (CPC module). The tests will be booked once the provisional entitlement is obtained.

Once this stage is passed the trainee will be booked in for their Practical lessons and test – this is currently obtained in three stages – 3a, the reverse exercise, which is assessed by the accredited trainer, 3b the on road test with the DVSA examiner and Mod 4 which is the ‘show me tell me’ element carried out with the examiner.

On passing the final practical tests the trainee submits a request for their Digi Tacho card whilst waiting on their licence and DQC (Driver Qualification Card for CPC)

During this process there is opportunity for additional supportive training relating to driver hours rules and regs, customer service and other e learning modules.
