Our new £15m super laundry in Berkshire has been labelled ‘one of the most modern industrial laundries in the UK, if not the World’ by Europe’s largest supplier of high quality laundry machinery Kannegiesser.
The new state-of-the-art 42,000 sq. ft. site combines the latest laundry technology with exceptional industry knowledge from the team of professionals involved with the project. The completion of the new laundry was the culmination of 18 months of intense planning and management with more than 90 people on site at the peak of the build, including Kannegiesser engineers and a senior management team led by our Chief Executive Officer.
The result of this team effort is evident in the completely integrated and fully automated laundry which is designed to achieve optimum production levels, together with low energy consumption figures. The Berkshire laundry bears clear testimony to the vast amount of technical and processing skill and knowledge of our team and Kannegiesser who is an acknowledged as a world leader in laundry technology.
The concept of the super laundry was to create a custom-designed facility that supports and fulfils our mission of being the most efficient and reliable laundry service for the UK’s hospitality industry as we continue to explore new ways of innovating in order to exceed the expectations of our customers.
CLEAN's Chief Executive, commented on the new facility saying it was “another vital milestone in the development and growth of CLEAN, and a major step for the business following a well-documented year of success that saw the company’s turnover to increase significantly towards £80m.”
He went on to add: “We have taken everything we have learned from our flagship Camberley laundry, which has been in operation since January 2010, and enhanced the facility further in order to provide our customers with the very best service available. Our priority is to ensure that we provide hospitality operators with the peace of mind that their laundry function is being taken care of by a network of professionals that are committed to providing reliability and efficiency in product as well as service.
“The customer experience is paramount to our success and the laundry features many new technological advancements that embrace environmental considerations and focuses significantly on the optimisation of energy and chemical consumption – something that is vital to our business and the businesses of others as we all look to improve our corporate social responsibility.
“We chose the location of the new laundry as the optimum position to service the thriving south east and London hotel market. With PWC predicting in its UK Hotels Forecast Report that London will see upwards of 7,200 new hotel rooms in 2017, adding to the 145,930 available in 2016, there is plenty of demand for reliable linen services. We have also mapped out smart delivery routes that incur minimal mileage, all helping to reduce delivery times and improve our fleet emissions and diesel utilisation.”
With the addition of the world-class site to the CLEAN laundry portfolio, we are now able to produce and deliver more than 130,000 workwear items and 5 million linen items to our customers each week. The opening of the new laundry has provided the local area with an employment boost creating in excess of 200 jobs, adding to its existing 1,400-strong workforce.
