On Friday 30th September employees at our Ross-on-Wye laundry site raised £152 for MacMillan the Cancer Support charity. The team did their best to emulate the baking feats of Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood creating a range of sweet treats for the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.
“Holding a Coffee Morning was fun - it was great to see all our colleagues getting involved. I never knew we had so many talented bakers and with so many people affected by cancer in some way it’s great to know we are doing our bit to help” Gerry Moggs, Site Support Manager, Ross-on-Wye
In true Great British Bake Off tradition there were Star Baker awards; issued to anyone who baked a cake. While those that didn’t bake; the ‘cake takers’ all made a contribution to the charity for each bake consumed. Money was also raised with a guess the number of icing spots on the cake competition.
There are 2.5 million people living with cancer in the UK today, and as more people live longer with their cancer, this number is set to grow. Macmillan’s ambition is to reach and improve the lives of everyone living with cancer and to inspire millions of others to do the same. They do this by providing support to everyone who needs it, to help people affected by cancer feel more in control of their lives. If you’d like to host your own coffee morning for Macmillan you don’t have to wait for the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning next year find how you can host your own buy visiting the Macmillan website.
