CLEAN has secured a coveted Green Apple Award for Environmental Best Practice from one of the world’s most respected recognition schemes for environmental endeavour.
Against stiff competition of over 500 entries from a variety of industries within the private and public sectors, judges were impressed by our pioneering and industry-leading commitment to sustainability and investment in state-of-the-art equipment, processes and systems which has seen us reduce our overall carbon footprint by 39%.
Since opening our £15m Slough super-laundry earlier this year, we have continued to develop our Environmental Management System to ensure we fulfil our green responsibilities throughout all our laundry sites by optimising our energy, water and chemical consumption.
The awards, which are supported by the Environment Agency, the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health and other independent bodies, will be presented at a glittering ceremony at the Houses of Parliament on 6 November.
Having secured a Green Apple Award, CLEAN is now eligible to become a Green World Ambassador where we will represent the UK in the Green World Awards 2018 – the leading sustainability programme playing a vital part in helping others to help the environment.
We have also been invited to publish our winning paper on the development of the Slough super-laundry in The Green Book, the leading international work of reference on environmental standards.
